Frequently asked questions
A clearer picture before we begin.
Straightforward answers about working with us, improving an existing setup and planning the next step. If your situation is more specific, tell us what you are trying to achieve.
Getting started
What does Bexley Thomas help with?
We help organisations improve the way they use Jira, Jira Service Management and Confluence. That can mean a new service desk, a difficult implementation, clearer workflows, better knowledge, Assets, automation, integrations or a migration.
Can you help with a small improvement?
Yes. A confusing request form, an unreliable report or a repetitive manual task can be a useful starting point. We agree the problem, the outcome and a sensible scope before beginning. You do not need to have a full transformation programme planned.
What should we bring to the first conversation?
Tell us what is getting in the way, who is affected and what you would like to improve. A few real examples are helpful. If you know your products, hosting model, apps, deadlines or key constraints, share those too. We can work through the gaps together.
Can you take over a project that has stalled?
Yes. We start by reviewing the existing work, decisions and outstanding problems. Then we agree a practical route forward, including what to keep, what needs attention and what a useful first release should contain.
Delivery and working together
Who will we work with?
You will work with the people delivering the work. Our team is Peter Brown, Vikki Cooke, Nick Corbett and Sachin Raut. We agree the delivery team and responsibilities for your engagement.
Will you change our live system during a review?
A review is not permission to make unplanned production changes. We agree the access and scope first. Any proposed changes are discussed with you, with appropriate testing, approval and recovery arrangements before implementation.
How do you involve our users?
We use real requests and practical examples to understand how people work. Early prototypes help customers, agents and service owners test the approach while it is still easy to refine. We include feedback, training and handover in the delivery plan.
How long does a project take, and what will it cost?
That depends on the scope, the condition of the existing setup, data, access and the decisions needed from your team. We agree deliverables, assumptions, responsibilities and commercials before work starts. If the scope changes, we discuss the impact before proceeding.
Will our team be able to maintain what you build?
That is part of the design. We aim for purposeful configuration, documented decisions and an agreed handover. Training and administrator guidance are shaped around the people who will operate and maintain the solution.
Technology, data and licensing
Do we need to buy more apps or licences?
Not necessarily. We look at whether your existing platform can meet the need first. If another app, product tier or service is appropriate, we explain why and confirm the relevant capabilities, costs and ongoing responsibilities before you commit.
Can you bring data across from another system?
We can assess a migration and define the scope with you. Records, users, comments, attachments, history and permissions need separate consideration. We agree mappings, trial runs, reconciliation and cutover arrangements before a live move.
Can Jira connect to our other systems?
Often, but the approach depends on the available interfaces, access, licensing and data requirements. We check those constraints, establish which system owns the information and design for failure handling as well as the expected flow.
Can you help with Assets and equipment allocation?
Yes. We help define the records, relationships, ownership and workflows that make asset information useful. A practical first use case might be laptop allocation or identifying the services affected by an incident. The design is agreed against your environment and product capabilities.
Can you help us assess AI or virtual agent options?
We can help you assess where they may be useful and whether the foundations are ready. That includes knowledge quality, permissions, expected behaviour, licensing, cost and data handling. A limited, tested use case is a more useful starting point than adding AI without a clear purpose.
Support and next steps
What happens after launch?
We agree the handover and any post-launch support as part of the delivery scope. If you need ongoing help, a managed support arrangement can cover an agreed scope, hours, response targets and allowance.
Does managed support include unlimited work or 24-hour cover?
Support is provided under an active paid agreement with defined coverage and an agreed allowance. Response targets, escalation contacts and any out-of-hours arrangements are agreed explicitly. Additional work or time is discussed and approved before it is undertaken.
How do we start?
